Dane's eye

Dane has had problems with his eye since he was tiny. We tried drops, salve, etc. It will get a little bit better and then it goes back to being goopy and yucky. Our pedi told us that if it wasn't better by 6 months, then it probably wouldn't get better. So we scheduled the consultation to meet with the pedi opthamologist today. He told us it was a clogged tear duct, just like we thought and he suggested we try to massage it to see if that helped any. He said that they can heal by themselves until 12-13 months and we had two options: 1.) massage, massage, massage until Dane is 12 or 13 months old and if it still isn't better then he would need the procedure or 2.) we could just go ahead and schedule the procedure now.

Rob and I opted for choice #1. We don't want him to have to have any procedures, if he doesn't need them and it can wait.

Connor had this also and he finally grew out of it. We massaged with a warm washcloth and I would push down toward his nose, hoping to clear it out.
If he does need the surgery, it's very quick, but he would still need anesthesia just to keep him still.
Hope it clears as he grows.

Hope he grows out it and can avoid the procedure.
